® epMotion ™ 5070 Workstation
Applications
- Dispensing from a supply (eg, from a supply tub to a 384-well plate)
- Transferring samples from individual tubes
- Distribution from primary to secondary plates or tubes
- Transfer to a more dense format (eg, from 4 x 24-well Safe-Lock tubes*
to a 96-well plate)
- Dilution and mixing of samples
- Automation of the dispensing steps of diverse methods (eg, nucleic
acid purification, PCR setup, cleanup of sequencing products, etc.)
Features
- Compact, easy-to-use control panel
- Intuitive user software with mouse and keyboard
- User prompting of the software similar to a PC
- Large volume range from 1 µl to 1000 µl
- Easily exchangeable dispensing tools (three volume ranges, single-
or 8-channel)
- Great flexibility of cups, suitable for dispensing into and from
a wide variety of tubes and plates (eg, MTP 96; MTP 384; Deepwell 1.0
ml–2.2 ml; Membrane MTP; 0.2 ml/0.5 ml, 1.5 ml/2 ml tubes; test
tubes to 15 ml; PCR, plate, and reagent tubs)
- Contamination-free pipetting with Eppendorf®
pipette tips: epTIPS Motion
- Pipette tips epTIPS Motion, available with or without filter
- Optical sensors for recognition of tip trays, tube racks, and levels
in the existing tubes
- Transport and archiving of parameters with the novel MultiMediaCard
(MMC) technology
- Four workplaces and a waste position are possible for the dispensing
tool
Description
The new Eppendorf epMotion 5070 workstation enables fast and
reproducible liquid handling by way of pipetting, dispensing, and other
dispensing variants. With its great similarity to manual pipettes and
to the familiar manual work method, pipetting sequences and protocols
previously carried out manually can now be transferred quickly and easily
to the epMotion 5070 workstation. Tried and true pipetting procedures
have been maintained and standard techniques are quickly and easily transferred.
Extensive experience with other liquid handling platforms and long training
times are not needed.Valuable bench space is saved by using the integrated
control panel instead of a PC. Operate the workstation using the keyboard
of the connected control panel. The connected mouse enables free movement
of the cursor over the integrated screen. Thus, an almost-intuitive operation
with greater flexibility in the application is made possible. The user
is led step by step through the software and prompted to carry out the
necessary actions.
The following steps take place fully automatically following the insertion
of the dispensing tool: the dispensing tool attaches the pipette tip;
the liquid to be isolated is taken up from a supply and dispensed into
one or more target tubes. Normally, the dispensing is concluded following
the ejection of the pipette tip. Optical sensors control and ensure the
reliability of the procedure:
- Testing of liquid quantities
- Testing of the existing pipette tip type with the programming
- Testing of the existing tubes with the programming
The epMotion 5070 workstation enables quick filling of plates
in the 384-well scale. It is also possible to fill an MTP 384-well from
other formats (eg, 4 x MTP 96-well).
